Our Opportunity As a result of our recent growth, we are hiring Sr. Infrastructure Engineer to help architect and implement enterprise-class IT solutions in a dynamic managed services environment. The successful candidate will join a team dedicated to delivering mission-critical managed cloud solutions from multiple datacenters to public and private enterprises in Canada and globally. This individual contributor is comfortable working independently or in high-performance team, is a champion of efficiency and automation to drive timely and high quality consistent work and creates documentation and standards to support the activities conducted on our hosting infrastructure. Your focus includes, but not limited to: Working with members of Product Marketing, CTO and Operations, participate in the design of new products, services, and infrastructure. Assist with the build/rollout of these new services. Take the lead role in operationalizing these new services and provide hands-on training to Operations. Perform regular audits of these new services to ensure we are adhering to the design specifications and SLO’s Document and perform routine maintenance procedures, as required with a continued focus on automation Act as escalation point for Sr. Sys Admins and work with the CTO team to resolve problems associated with these new services. Participate in the design/build of customer solutions on the Carbon60 infrastructure, including maintaining standard design templates, and ensuring that new solutions are deployed and operationalized according to internal standards and accepted industry best practices. Participate in the ITSM and ISMS (Information Security Management Systems) governance processes established by the company, such as the Change Advisory Board. Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, participating in professional organizations. Accomplish organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing assigned objectives on time and by always looking to provide additional value to the company and its customers. What you bring: Degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience 5+ years of Systems engineer/administrator work experience, including: VMWare platform management, maintaining highly available infrastructure in a service provider or multi-tenant environment; including vCenter and ESXi management as well as the underlying physical hardware. Experience with public and hybrid cloud deployments and management. Windows and Linux system administration procedures, including common scripting language and tools, as well as hosting stacks such as LAMP and IIS Backup and disaster recovery planning, implementation, and testing. Storage and hardware Management. Familiarity operating in a datacenter, maintaining hosting platform hardware and core applications, and the overall physical environment. Strong understanding of networking technologies including enterprise grade firewalls, TCP/UDP Protocols, DNS, DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol), SSL/TLS, VPN and Load Balancing concepts. Experience with the design and implementation of automation, scripting, and management tools for infrastructure to drive efficiency and consistency. Excellent Troubleshooting Skills are required. Strong Interpersonal and Communication Skills are required, you can find yourself working with executives, clients, and peers throughout the day. Strong understand of risk management and the consequences of error in judgement – as a service provider with multiple customers, small outages or failure of process can result in significant financial and professional consequences to Carbon60 and its customers. You focus on minimizing risk and following careful change management procedures to ensure success at all times. Must be able to provide after-hours support when required. Must be able to pass an enhanced reliability check with Public Services and Procurement Canada. Nice to haves: Experience with deploying and managing solutions on public hyperscale clouds, or in hybrid models is an asset. Experience supporting sales in a solutions architecture or technology subject matter expert role. VMWare, Cisco, Juniper, Fortinet, AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, ITIL, certifications are an asset.
